Accessibility

Ideal Placements is committed to providing an inclusive online experience for everyone. We aim to make our website usable for the widest possible audience, including people with disability, older people, and those using assistive technologies or alternative input devices.

Standards we work to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, and we’re progressively aligning new and updated content to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing practice; we review, remediate, and improve as our site and technology evolve.

How we make our content accessible

We design, build, and test with accessibility in mind. Our current approach includes:

  • Structure & semantics: Meaningful headings, lists, landmarks, and table markup so content is easy to navigate with screen readers and keyboard.
  • Images: Informative images have alternative text; decorative images are hidden from assistive tech.
  • Colour & contrast: We target AA contrast ratios and do not rely on colour alone to convey meaning.
  • Keyboard access: All interactive components (menus, dialogs, carousels, accordions) are operable via keyboard without traps. Visible focus styles are maintained.
  • Forms: Labels, instructions, required-field indicators, error messaging, and success states are programmatically associated and announced where appropriate (e.g., ARIA live regions).
  • Media: Where we publish multimedia, we provide captions and/or transcripts.
  • Links & buttons: Descriptive link text and correct roles to support screen reader quick navigation (e.g., H for headings, F for form fields in many readers).
  • Documents: We prefer HTML over PDFs. Where PDFs are necessary, we aim to publish tagged, accessible PDFs or provide an alternative format on request.
  • Language & readability: Clear, concise content in Australian English.

Using this site

  • Skip links: A “Skip to main content” link appears as the first focusable element on each page.
  • Resizing text:
    • On Windows: press Ctrl + + to zoom in, Ctrl + - to zoom out, Ctrl + 0 to reset.
    • On macOS: press Cmd + +, Cmd + -, Cmd + 0.
  • Consistent navigation: Menus, search, and footer navigation are placed consistently across pages.

Compatibility

We aim to support current versions of major desktop and mobile browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, and to work with commonly used assistive technologies such as NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (macOS/iOS). Experiences may vary with older browsers or discontinued technologies.

Third-party content and services

Some features or content may be provided by third parties (for example, embedded maps, videos, or external portals). While these are outside our full control, we select vendors with accessibility in mind and provide alternatives where practical.

Known limitations

While we strive for full compliance, some legacy documents or media may not yet meet all criteria. If you need a document in an alternative format, please contact us and we’ll do our best to help promptly.
